On the Road Again! Flagler College – Flagler College is located in the heart of historic St. Augustine, Florida, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the United States. The campus is a designated National Historic Landmark, and it includes several historic buildings that were once luxury hotels built by Henry Flagler in the late 1800s. Students can easily walk or bike to many local attractions, including the Castillo de San Marcos, a 17th-century fortress. St. Augustine also offers many opportunities for outdoor fun, such as kayaking and paddleboarding on the nearby waterways, hiking in state parks, and surfing at local beaches. In addition to the stellar location, here are some particularly interesting programs:
- Hospitality and Tourism Management: Flagler’s School of Business offers a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Students learn about hotel and restaurant management, event planning, and tourism marketing and complete 120 apprenticeship hours.
- Coastal Environmental Science: This interdisciplinary program focuses on the unique environmental challenges facing coastal regions, and includes courses in biology, geology, oceanography and environmental science. Students obtain hands-on experience by conducting field research and participating in internships with local environmental organizations.
- Public History: Flagler’s Public History program trains students to work in museums, archives, and other public history institutions. Students take courses in historical research methods, exhibit design, and public interpretation. Students can take advantage of Flagler’s location to work on projects with local museums and historical sites. Two internships are required to complete this major.
- Sport Management: This program combines business and sport management courses to prepare students for careers in the sports industry. Students learn about sports marketing, event management, and sports law and complete a full-time internship.
