Let’s face it. The past few months have not been easy and, yes, that is an understatement. With social isolation and uncertainty, fear and anxiety have reared their ugly heads. I try to find some good in every situation but even I have found that difficult lately. But it would be impossible to not be moved by the moment of pure joy in this video. IMG_8852 Trust me – this girl has not had it easy. In fact, she is part of a military family. She started her junior year at a new high school in a state she had never even visited and moving to a completely different state for her senior year. This incredible student (actually, outstanding human being) did everything that I asked of her and without complaint. She researched colleges that we discussed and became laser focused on one that fit her needs in every way – academically, socially and financially. She was ready to commit heart and soul. When I told her that she could apply early decision and hear within weeks, she diligently got all of her ducks in a row. Teachers loved her (no surprise) and worked during the summer to write recommendations as did her school counselor. She checked and re-checked and then submitted her application and received a response in record time. I have had many students apply early decision but I have never had a student admitted in July.
