Terry is a citizen of the United States with extensive international experience. She has traveled to many universities inside and outside of the United States. As a university student, Terry spent a semester abroad in Vienna, immersing herself in the culture and teaching English to secondary school students. She has traveled numerous times throughout North America, Europe, Asia and northern Africa. Terry enjoys a variety of cultures and has an understanding of cultural differences. She has taken classes in French, Spanish, German and Italian.
The members of Terry’s immediate family are also global citizens. After completing his undergraduate studies at Princeton University and his graduate studies at Harvard University, her husband has spent much of his career working as an international lawyer, investment banker and consultant. In his current work, he travels frequently to Europe, the Middle East, China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
Terry’s children have traveled extensively and have studied and worked abroad. Through Model United Nations programs, they have traveled to the Netherlands, Belgium, Panama and Ecuador. They have also been involved in working in museums in France, studying at a university in Morocco, working for an NGO in Jordan and Israel and working for a law firm in Tunisia. Through a United States State Department scholarship, Terry’s daughter spent an immersion summer in China and a gap semester teaching English in China and traveling throughout China, Vietnam, Singapore and Japan. She attended undergraduate and graduate school in the United Kingdom and spent a year in Russia. Both children are fluent in French and between them have studied Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew, Russian and Mandarin.
As a family, we greatly value all of these experiences as we enjoy travel and the opportunity to meet people and interact with other cultures.
As a university consultant, these experiences have been invaluable in connecting with students and families outside of the United States. With today’s technology, such as Zoom, WeChat, Skype and Facetime, the world becomes smaller as meetings can be conducted on a regular basis.
